Tsawout First Nation

As one of five bands that constitute the Saanich Nation, the Tsawout First Nation (TFN) is dedicated to housing its members in safe, healthy, and affordable housing. However, as with other First Nations, this can often be a struggle as Aboriginal communities remain socio-economically depressed and the Aboriginal population continues to grow at a more rapid rate than any other group in Canada. As a consultant for the TFN since 2007, Linda has helped the Nation to coordinate a proactive and thoughtful response to the housing and homeless crisis in its community by writing and implementing Housing policies and procedures as well as completing RRAP grants and proposal submissions to CMHC for Elders Housing, and to CMHC and INAC for renovation money for existing buildings and new construction.
